Internationally-acclaimed artist celebrates sirens of the silver screen in major retrospective exhibition
Simon Claridge presents Diamonds are Forever: A Claridge Retrospective in celebration of the timeless and iconic allure of Monroe, Bardot and Hepburn
On the evening of Thursday 4 October, Winchester-based fine art gallery, Claridge Fine Art will open its doors to the great and good of the City, with high-profile collectors of Simon Claridge, art critics, and influential figures alike set to gather at the Southgate Street gallery for owner, Simon Claridge’s highly-anticipated diamond dust retrospective.
Claridge, who has garnered international acclaim for his fine art interpretations of iconic figures on silkscreen, will be on hand to chat to art-lovers about his re-interpretations of starlets such as Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, and fashion models, Twiggy and Kate Moss.
Says Claridge:
“It’s always wonderful to work with Marilyn, Audrey and Brigitte; I can never make a bad picture, because they’re so beautiful and iconic as subjects.”
“Being a portrait artist is at the core of what I do, and I wanted to showcase a retrospective of the work I’ve done, how I got to where I am now, and why I opened the gallery. Diamonds are Forever: A Claridge Retrospective will give me the opportunity to tell my story to the people that come into the gallery on a daily or weekly basis.”
As well as being able to rub shoulders with Claridge, guests will be treated to prosecco and/or soft drinks, as well as having the chance to view and buy artwork spanning Claridge’s 15-year career as an artist.
Adds Claridge:
“In the nine months since opening Claridge Fine Art, I have already got to know some wonderful people in the City, and the surrounding areas. I hope to continue to meet new people, chat to them, show them my work, and to be part of the local community in Winchester!
Diamonds are Forever: A Claridge Retrospective will run for a limited time only, from Thursday 4 October to Thursday 11 October at Claridge Fine Art, 25 Southgate Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 9EB. Anyone interested in attending the launch event from 5:30pm – 9:30pm on Thursday 4 October is encouraged to sign-up to the Claridge Fine Art mailing list in exchange for an invitation.
