Infected Blood Inquiry launches

The opening hearings of the long-awaited Public Inquiry into Infected Blood Products will take place at Church House, Westminster from 24th - 26th September 2018.

Jason Evans (Founder of Factor 8) said: "It has taken a long time to get to this stage since the Inquiry was originally announced by Theresa May in 2017. What is the Infected Blood Inquiry?

The Inquiry will investigate the circumstances surrounding the infection of thousands of Haemophiliacs with HIV and/or Hepatitis in the 1970's and 1980's via a medicine known as "Factor", the Inquiry will also look at allegations of a subsequent cover-up amongst other issues.

Why Now?

Going back to the 1980's there had been various calls for a Public Inquiry. They had all been unsuccessful. A recently rejuvenated campaign of Political & Legal action combined with National & Internal media attention and newly discovered evidence led to the announcement of a Public Inquiry by the Prime Minister in July 2017.
