Harlette Capital Ltd Launches ALPHA LUNAR™ SMR Request for Information (RFI) to Advance Next-Generation Micro Nuclear Power for the Moon

London, United Kingdom – 29 July 2026

Harlette Capital Ltd today announced the launch of its ALPHA LUNAR™ Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Request for Information (RFI), inviting leading nuclear technology organisations to collaborate on the development of an innovative micro lunar nuclear reactor designed for future sustained operations on the lunar surface.

The ALPHA LUNAR™ programme seeks to explore the development of compact nuclear power systems incorporating innovative hydrogen-based technologies to support long-duration lunar infrastructure, scientific research, communications, robotics and future human exploration.

As part of the RFI process, Harlette Capital Ltd has invited leading SMR developers, including Rolls-Royce SMR and Westinghouse Electric Company, to participate in technical discussions and provide information regarding technologies that may support future lunar power generation.

The invitation follows Harlette Capital Ltd's participation in the International Conference on Topical Issues in Nuclear Installation Safety, held at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, from 29 June to 3 July 2026. The conference brought together international experts to discuss advances in nuclear safety, innovation and future nuclear technologies.

The launch of the ALPHA LUNAR™ RFI also builds upon Harlette Capital Ltd's engagement at a joint United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna on 9 June 2026, where representatives discussed the increasing importance of cooperation between the nuclear and space sectors in supporting future exploration beyond Earth.

The ALPHA LUNAR™ initiative aims to investigate technologies capable of delivering:

  • Compact, lightweight lunar power systems.
  • High-reliability, continuous energy generation for permanent lunar operations.
  • Integration of advanced hydrogen technologies where technically feasible.
  • Safe deployment concepts for future international lunar missions.
