London, United Kingdom – 29 July 2026
Harlette Capital Ltd today announced the launch of its ALPHA LUNAR™ Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Request for Information (RFI), inviting leading nuclear technology organisations to collaborate on the development of an innovative micro lunar nuclear reactor designed for future sustained operations on the lunar surface.
The ALPHA LUNAR™ programme seeks to explore the development of compact nuclear power systems incorporating innovative hydrogen-based technologies to support long-duration lunar infrastructure, scientific research, communications, robotics and future human exploration.
As part of the RFI process, Harlette Capital Ltd has invited leading SMR developers, including Rolls-Royce SMR and Westinghouse Electric Company, to participate in technical discussions and provide information regarding technologies that may support future lunar power generation.
The invitation follows Harlette Capital Ltd's participation in the International Conference on Topical Issues in Nuclear Installation Safety, held at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, from 29 June to 3 July 2026. The conference brought together international experts to discuss advances in nuclear safety, innovation and future nuclear technologies.
The launch of the ALPHA LUNAR™ RFI also builds upon Harlette Capital Ltd's engagement at a joint United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meeting held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna on 9 June 2026, where representatives discussed the increasing importance of cooperation between the nuclear and space sectors in supporting future exploration beyond Earth.
The ALPHA LUNAR™ initiative aims to investigate technologies capable of delivering:
Harlette Capital Ltd believes that reliable nuclear power will become an essential enabling technology for the next generation of lunar exploration and commercial space development.
The Request for Information is intended as an early-stage market engagement exercise to better understand current technological capabilities, future development pathways and opportunities for collaboration between industry, research organisations and international partners.
Harlette Capital Ltd welcomes responses from organisations with expertise in:
Harlette Capital Ltd intends to use the information gathered through the RFI to inform future programme planning, technology partnerships and potential research collaborations supporting the ALPHA LUNAR™ programme.
"Reliable, compact nuclear power has the potential to become one of the foundational technologies enabling humanity's long-term presence on the Moon. Through the ALPHA LUNAR™ Request for Information, Harlette Capital Ltd is engaging with world-leading innovators to better understand how advanced microreactor and hydrogen technologies may contribute to future lunar infrastructure in a safe and responsible manner. We look forward to constructive engagement with industry, research organisations and international partners."

Harlette Capital Ltd
Harlette Capital Ltd is a United Kingdom-based innovation company developing advanced technologies across aerospace, energy, communications and emerging scientific research. Through the ALPHA LUNAR™ programme, the company is exploring concepts for next-generation energy systems to support future lunar exploration and long-duration space infrastructure.
The ALPHA LUNAR™ Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme forms part of Harlette Capital Ltd's ongoing programme to further develop and commercialise research previously presented at the 76th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025). The company is progressing the programme under licence for continued research, engineering and technology development.
The ALPHA LUNAR™ initiative draws upon published research exploring critical challenges associated with future lunar infrastructure, including lunar communications, environmental conditions and long-duration operations on the Moon. These research activities provide an important scientific foundation for investigating resilient power systems capable of supporting future lunar settlements and exploration architectures.
Harlette Capital Ltd believes that resilient lunar energy systems, advanced communications and autonomous infrastructure will need to be developed together as integrated technologies. The ALPHA LUNAR™ Request for Information (RFI) has therefore been launched to identify nuclear industry partners capable of contributing expertise in compact microreactor technologies, nuclear safety engineering and innovative hydrogen-based energy concepts for future lunar applications.
The company considers the RFI to be a natural progression from its published IAC 2025 research programme and its engagement with international organisations, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), supporting continued dialogue between the space and nuclear sectors.
The ALPHA LUNAR™ programme is informed by Harlette Capital Ltd's published IAC 2025 research, including:
The ALPHA LUNAR™ programme is intended to build upon this research through engineering studies, industry collaboration and technology development, recognising that any future implementation would remain subject to further technical validation, regulatory approvals and international cooperation.
