Freelancer Financials celebrates its 1,000th five-star Google review from contractors and self-employed clients
I'm delighted to hit this significant landmark of positive feedback from clients.
Freelancer Financials has hit a major milestone. The specialist mortgage broker - part of Mortgage Quest Limited - has now received its 1,000th five-star review on Google.
Reaching this landmark figure of perfect scores from clients reflects the Freelancer Financials’ reputation for customer care built over more than 20 years. Its clients are contractors, company directors and self-employed workers, and many feel underserved by high street lenders. They've turned to Freelancer Financials for advice for their specific circumstances and for access to lenders and mortgage underwriters who understand their income.
John Yerou, Managing Director of Mortgage Quest Ltd, said: “I'm delighted to hit this significant landmark of positive feedback from clients. We find the right mortgage for each client's specific individual circumstances, and everyone is different. The reviews show that our brokers use their expertise to make our clients' property aspirations a reality, and I love seeing how much that is valued.”
As Head of Mortgage Sales, George Yerou said this about Freelancer Financials’ reputation for client service: “We’re incredibly proud to have reached one thousand five-star reviews. Buying a home or securing a mortgage can be a complex and stressful process, particularly when your income doesn’t fit the standard high street model. This milestone cements the fact that we excel in helping contractors and the self-employed buy their dream home, while offering consistently excellent customer service”
Genuine feedback, in clients' own words
Looking over these 1000 reviews you will see that they share common themes. Clients praise patience, clear communication and brokers who take the time to understand their specific circumstances, however complex. The following examples are taken from Google reviews of Freelancer Financials, left by recent clients, in their own words:
Martyna and her partner
had already been turned down by three brokers by the time they found Archie Hogg. She was a contractor working abroad with no first year's accounts on record, which many high-street lenders won't touch. Archie took the case anyway. “He genuinely took the time to understand our situation instead of brushing us off,” she said. Midway through the application, the market shifted and their original offer was at risk of expiring. Archie secured a new rate through another lender, then improved on it again, saving the couple over £200 a month. She called it “life-changing.”
Client Rajesh was in a complex chain and George Yerou helped him save the property purchase. Unlike the online-only broker he previously dealt with, George Yerou was able to provide service “at a completely different level.” Rajesh has this to say about the experience: “All credit to George and his team for providing a great service especially when the house buying process is so stressful and you really need a reliable broker to get you over the line.”
Penelope had a harder case as well, with some circumstances that had limited her options elsewhere. Natasha Saunders and Natalie Jefferson, she said, “worked so hard to ensure they found something suitable and affordable.” She described herself as “forever grateful.”
Expert broker Raj Sanghera worked with his client Kiemu for over a year to secure the ideal mortgage for her. She praised his perseverance and professionalism: "Raj is an experienced and professional mortgage broker who I would definitely recommend... he was helpful and endlessly patient." She also noted the transparency around fees. No payment was required until the mortgage was approved.
Richard’s remortgage
was secured by Roger Hogg with the administrative support of Deepa Pareek, both of which he found “professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and incredibly supportive.” Roger explained each step; Deepa kept the case moving with regular updates.
Other reviews tell a quieter version of the same story. Linda said broker Neetesh Pota was “absolutely instrumental in getting my application over the line.” Melody thanked Andrew Saunders for “incredible service… quick, efficient and very professional.” Michele praised Ryan Donegan for being “incredibly supportive” and giving “clear, honest and pragmatic advice”. Client Ger gave broker Ramji Gorasia “massive credit” for “a 5-star service from start to finish” and securing a mortgage approval in six days.
None of this happens by accident, as Freelancer Financials is a multi-award-winning business known throughout the mortgage industry. For example, Archie Hogg was named as “Rising Star of the Year” at the Next Intelligence Awards in 2026. At the same event in 2025, George Yerou, Head of Mortgages, was awarded “Residential Broker of the Year” and Freelancer Financials was named “Best Contractor Mortgage Provider or Broker” at The Contracting Awards for the third time running in 2025.
Freelancer Financials pioneered “contract based underwriting”, where contract day rates rather than payslips, tax documents or a set of accounts are used to define mortgage affordability. A contractor eight months into a new role, whether paid through an umbrella company or working outside IR35, can still be turned down by a mainstream bank for reasons that have nothing to do their ability to afford the mortgage. Freelancer Financials sees that as a failure of underwriting, not of the borrower, and its more than 40,000 contractor clients to date would agree.
The company is a family business, a pioneer in the industry, 100% independent and directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) meaning that it can give truly impartial advice. But the reviews rarely mention any of that. They mention Archie staying on a case after three other brokers said no, or George picking up the phone quickly, or Roger explaining a step clearly. This is how Freelancer Financials has built up its reputation, one review at a time.
