Christmas comes early to Dorney Lake for local Alzheimer's and Dementia Charity 'ADS'

Exactly 1 month before Christmas (25th November) Dorney will see over 500 Santa's descend to walk, jog, run or scoot the 5km around the lake to show their support and fundraise for people with dementia and their families. Previous years have seen people from all over the world attend this festive family friendly event. Thanks to the beautiful surroundings, easy access and flat terrain it is suitable for to all ages & abilities, from 4 legs to 4 wheels. It's a great day out and you can really make a difference. Every penny raised will be used wisely.

We are looking for images that address the theme ‘Christmas Memories are Priceless’.

The 5 images with the highest number of likes will go to the ‘ADS’ Board of Trustees who will pick their two favourites for the event publication.

The ADS Santa Fun Run is our biggest FUNdraising event which attracts over 500 people to attend come rain or shine. Your image will become part of the race packs that every entrance will receive.

What else is happening?

Dorney Lake is a beautiful location (yes, even in the rain) so it’s a great chance to capture some wonderful photographs. Over 500 Santa’s in one location produces a vivid sea of red that is not to be missed. Don’t forget to use the #ADSSantaRun. Look out for other photo opportunities with the inflatable Santa, Olympic Rings and not forgetting our furry four-legged friends and wheels in fancy dress.
Our event will be opened by an array of local dignitaries and special guests who will be joining in the fun! There will be a catering van serving hot food & drinks before the run starts (outside of the main building) and we would like to invite you to create our ‘Flash Mob’ dance warm up troop with a Christmas sing-song before the race is started by our VIP guests. Once the run is under way then please join us upstairs, where the wonderful singer Leah Lyle will be performing with our medal awards at 3pm.

The Event: Our very popular 'ADS' Annual Santa Fun Run will take place on Sunday 25th November 2018 from 1pm (with a Santa Flash Mob warm up at 1.30pm & starters' orders at 1.45pm) and we'd all love to see you all there!

What we do & why we do it: Alzheimers Dementia Support 'ADS' is a predominately Volunteer-run charity which offers constructive practical Support, Guidance, Information and a wide range of Exciting Services designed to help people within the LOCAL community whose lives are directly or indirectly affected by Dementia. We strive to make a difference by helping those affected cope better with their problems whilst giving them the opportunity to experience a little joy and laughter in their difficult lives. We also offer Dementia Awareness & Carers' Training to all in the RBWM including group bookings for businesses, groups and schools etc.

Who we help: There is an ever growing number of People with Dementia, dependent on their Carers and families within our local Communities of Windsor, Ascot, Maidenhead, Slough and Langley (and all points in between), who can benefit from our wide and varied range of services. We use any and all forms of communication to increase the awareness of 'ADS' and what we can do to help.
