UK charity builds a school for children with disabilities

News provided by sewa UK on Monday 18th Apr 2016

Press release - For immediate release

A residential school for children with disabilities is now fully open

Friday 8th April 2016 marked a milestone for sewa UK.

This was the day 100 children with disabilities from the most disadvantaged group in society took up full residency at the DIVYA School in Jawhar, Maharashtra in India

It was the culmination of 3 years of hard work by our team in India and by sewa UK.

Often it is said that money sent to countries such as India never reach the beneficiaries BUT here is an example of the integrity of the people of India.

Despite facing many challenges along the way, e.g.:

The difficult of the topography of the site.

The lack of skilled workers in a remote location.

The lack of water in 2014

and finally

Shortage of sand (essential for construction) towards the end of the project

Our team of experts have completed the project

On time |Within budget | to the high standards demanded by us.

Bob Blackman MP for Harrow East very kindly inaugurated the school. His presence was very much appreciated by the school trustees, the management committee, the teachers, and ancillary staff and of course the children.

The trustees of the school are now planning the next phase - to provide life skills and teach the children a craft or trade so that they can lead a meaningful and fulfilling life once they reach adulthood

sewa UK would like to thank everyone who has made this project a success with special thanks to the following:

NOT LEAST OF ALL

The people of UK for their generosity
