TOP 10 TASTIEST BRITISH CELEBRITIES REVEALED FOR SAUSAGE WEEK

The top 10 tastiest British celebrities have been exclusively revealed following a poll and public vote by the award-winning Surrey-based sausage brand Porky Whites. Coinciding with British Sausage Week (29th October to 5th November 2018), hundreds of online public votes* were cast to reveal the tastiest and least tasty celebrities from TV and Radio to Sport and Politics.

So, who are the celebrities that Brits think are the epitome of great taste and which celebrities leave a bad taste in their mouths?

The results are now in…

  1. Holly Willoughby - Tastiest female celebrity
  2. Tom Hardy - Tastiest male celebrity
  3. Ben Shephard - Tastiest male breakfast TV presenter
  4. Susanna Reid - Tastiest female breakfast TV presenter
  5. Ronan Keating - Tastiest male radio DJ
  6. Emma Bunton - Tastiest female radio DJ
  7. David Beckham - Tastiest sportsman
  8. Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill - Tastiest sportswoman
  9. Gordon Ramsay - Tastiest male TV chef
  10. Nigella Lawson - Tastiest female TV chef

Holly Willoughby was voted the tastiest female celebrity beating Emma Willis and Stacey Solomon to first place. “I’d certainly love to share a sausage with Holly (errr no pun intended)” said one male voter. “She’s gorgeous, funny and a genuine person” said another. With Holly’s great friend Gino D’Acampo somewhat of an Italian Stallion himself, surely Chickolatas Italian Style has to be on her dinner menu. Delizioso!

Tom Hardy, the former model and now actor and film producer scooped the tastiest male award. “He’s not only extremely good looking he’s an amazing actor and an animal lover too” said another voter. Tom is undoubtedly, perfectly paired with Porky Dogs; big and meaty just like him.

In the battle to claim tastiest breakfast TV presenter it was Ben Shephard who beat his fellow Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan to the crown. Shephard received almost a third of the vote, with consumers remarking on his cheeky personality and good looks. BBC’s Dan Walker and arch rival of Morgan’s came third. Ben pairs perfectly with Porky White’s Traditionals. Long established and much loved, you can always trust the Traditional.

GMB’s Susanna Reid received the top award in the female breakfast TV presenter category. “She’s a brilliant interviewer, attractive and funny” said one voter. Another voter said “The fact she has to deal with Piers Morgan shows she has the patience of a saint.” Susanna beat her co-presenter Kate Garraway and BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin to claim the title.

Waking up in the morning is made all the better with just two things: GMB’s Susanna and a serving of Porky Whites Originals. Red or brown sauce, folks?

Magic FM’s breakfast show presenter and former Boyzone singer Ronan Keating picked up the award for tastiest male DJ. Voters loved his accent and cheerful personality. He beat Radio 1 DJ Greg James and Radio 2’s Chris Evans to claim the top spot.

With our Surrey’s sausages being made with a hint of real honey and lemon juice, it’s a match made in heaven for vocal star, Ronan Keating.

In the female radio DJ category, it was former Spice Girl Emma Bunton that got male voters’ hearts racing. “Once a spice girl, always a spice girl” said one voter. She came ahead of broadcasters Charlie Hedges and Vick Hope in second and third place respectively.

Porky White’s Sweet Chilli and Lime sausages were practically made with Baby Spice in mind; the perfect blend of sweet and spicy!

Golden Balls, David Beckham has still got it, according to voters. He was awarded tastiest sportsman ahead of Antony Joshua and Max Whitlock. “He’s a really handsome guy and ageing well” remarked one voter. Like Golden Balls, Porky White’s Beef and Pork Meatballs never fail to deliver!

She’s one of Great Britain’s most decorated athletes and now Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill can add tastiest sportswoman to her long list of titles. “She’s a great role model, truly inspiring and beautiful from inside out” said one voter. Our Porky Lights are quite the match for Olympian, Jess. Meaty enough to satisfy the healthiest of appetites, but as lighter options go, they’re porky perfection.

In the coveted tastiest male TV chef award, it was revered chef Gordon Ramsay who clinched the title ahead of rivals Jamie Oliver and James Martin. His professionalism, outspoken nature and culinary skills made him a big hit with voters and someone they’d love to cook for them. Never one to blend in, Gordon pairs perfectly with Chickolatas Sausages with Sage and Onion. Deliciously different and totally premium.

Despite her recent disagreement with Dawn French over the best way to serve scones (jam or cream first?) Nigella Lawson was voted tastiest female TV chef. Her sex appeal, sophistication and domestic goddess persona helped her clinch the title over Nadiya Hussain and Lorraine Pascale. Nigella and Saucy Whites – now that’s a combo. Succulent, rich and saucy.

And the two celebrities that Brits thought were tasteless include…

  • Theresa May - Tasteless politician
  • Katie Hopkins - Tasteless celebrity

Theresa May was the politician voters thought was the least tasty. “Her dance moves are enough to put anyone off” said one voter. She was closely followed by Boris Johnson who consumers thought had made some of the most distasteful remarks and gaffs during the year. Jeremy Corbyn came third.

Katie Hopkins was the celebrity that voters considered to be the most distasteful. “She’s a real toad, vile and rude” said one voter. She edged ahead of Katie Price in second and ‘love him or loathe him’ Piers Morgan in third.

Graham White, Chairman of Porky Whites says: “The Great British public really do have great taste; and when it comes to their favourite celebrities it’s clearly about more than just great looks, it’s also what’s on the inside that counts.

“Whether it’s choosing our great tasting new look Porky Whites sausages or crowning the UK’s tastiest celebrities, the British public never seems to get it wrong.

“Congratulations to all the winners and the runners up who have shown they have impeccably good taste. As for the tasteless losers, there’s always next year and they have 12 months to put things right.”

Porky Whites has presented all the winners and losers with specially designed SAUSIES trophies as well as offering a hamper of its product to be given to a nominated recipient or charity of the celebrities’ choice.

About Porky Whites

British sausage brand Porky Whites was established in 1935 when brothers Harry and Jim White opened their first shop in Ewell, Surrey. Successful pig farmers they sold the tastiest pork in the county. News of their tasty new sausages (Surrey’s and Traditional Pork) soon spread and families travelled miles to queue down the street to buy them.

Over the following decades, they continued to make and sell premium pork sausages, and as play on Jim’s passion for pork, his stature, and of course his surname the name Porky Whites was born.

In the early 1970’s Harry and Jim hung up their aprons and Jim’s son, Graham took over the business. Born and bred on the family’s sausages, and every bit as passionate as his father and uncle, there wasn’t much Graham didn’t know about Porky Whites, and over the next few decades he took their humble family sausage on an impressive journey.

Skip forward to 1988, Porky Whites became available in Selfridges Food Hall. From 1990, they were served on Concorde to British Airways First Class passengers, and on Virgin Upper Class. By 2002 they also became a favourite among the well-heeled clientele of Fortnum and Mason and Harvey Nichols. In 2005 they were served at the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

To this day Porky Whites remains a family-owned company, with Graham at the helm and the third generation of the family involved in the running of the business. Porky Whites is now stocked by all the major retailers across Britain.

The company has just introduced its first major rebrand of its Porky Whites range of sausages and meatballs since it made its debut in supermarkets 14 years ago. The new packaging has moved the family photo that had adorned the range in its previous incarnation, in favour of cleaner block colours. The company has also announced it has stopped using the difficult to recycle black trays in favour of the almost universally recycled transparent trays.
