SocialBox.Biz and Canary Wharf Group joins forces in a new initiative

SocialBox.Biz has continued to forge ahead in their mission of reducing homelessness by uniquely rehoming tech that has been donated by corporations.

The recent partnership with property developer Canary Wharf Group, will yield major benefits for SocialBox.Biz’s ‘Laptops for Homeless and Vulnerable’ initiative. Donating old hardware which is no longer needed but still in good condition, helps those in need achieve their career and educational goals.

SocialBox.Biz is a community interest company (C.I.C.) improving the local community by providing innovative tech solutions. The London-based community interest venture re-homes old, donated computers with people in accommodation services, including homeless individuals, young people in the care system, refugees, and the elderly via its digital inclusion and laptop donation platform.

New report also shows the major impacts of corporations donating old tech products.

This week, SocialBox.Biz released a study showing the numerous benefits and impact of corporations donating their tech products on a local scale.

“We believe that apart from the societal benefits the environmental impact of donating locally is clear, and that it can actually help reduce carbon emissions, because for example it requires less transporting and handling. With transportation and distribution being a major aspect of scope 3 emissions for corporations, this is a clear win-win-win” said Peter Paduh Founder of SocialBox.Biz speaking at London Tech 2019 earlier this week.

When companies donate business goods locally, they help others succeed in their community, and this has a far reaching impact on the local economy by bringing more workers into the workforce. “As a plus, you’re also building lasting relationships with other businesses and charities, as we all know, relationships are crucial for lasting business success,” stated the case study.

The report’s insights also showed connections between local donation, Scope 3 Emissions, and ESG profiles.

“It is brilliant to see the initiatives of Social Box Biz expand and benefit both companies and those in need in our communities. I am particularly proud to see the development of the ‘Laptops for Homeless Support’ programme,” said Jim Fitzpatrick, MP for Poplar and Limehouse.

Canary Wharf donation drop off locations with Regus office group

SocialBox.Biz is thrilled to continue the expansion of their initiative with local corporations. Now, locals in the Canary Wharf area can drop off donations at SocialBox locations at Regus Canary Wharf (25 Canada Square London, E14). Canary Wharf donation drop off locations with Regus were recently highlighted on Twitter.

Regus Magazine recently reported:

Regus is asking British businesses and local people to donate their unwanted tech to help those in need.

The international workspace provider has teamed up with technological social enterprise SocialBox.biz to collect people’s unused tech and give it a second life.

Useful items include unneeded laptops, old mobile phones, IT equipment (like servers and consoles) and second-hand clothing that could be worn to job interviews.

Regus has set up donation points at its workspaces in London and around the UK, where donors can drop off their unwanted devices. SocialBox.biz then hands out the items to people living in homeless shelters, low-income senior housing and other charities that support vulnerable people in Britain.
