Social-Distancing Solution | New App Turns your Car into a Safe Virtual Waiting Room

UK: With more businesses coming out of lockdown an enterprising company has invented an ingenious app which solves the problem of imposing the Government’s safe social distancing guidelines in waiting rooms and reception spaces.

The ImHere app, perfect for organisations like dentists’ and doctors’ surgeries, clinics, hairdressers, opticians, nail bars or beauty salons – in fact anywhere people are required to wait for attention – is currently being trialled in various settings across the country.

This is how it works:

When an appointment with a venue is scheduled, download the app to your mobile, and connect through it to the establishment’s reception. Arrive by car, park safely and signal “I’m Here” to the receptionist via the app. Stay protectively isolated in the car until you receive a message through the app to say you can head straight on in to your appointment, without having to dilly-dally in the reception area or waiting room, minimising your risk of Coronavirus contamination.

The ImHere app is the brainchild of Cattani ESAM, a company specialising in providing technical solutions for the dental trade in the UK and Ireland. It has been developed by a professional agency, Dentons Digital of Wiltshire.

A spokesman for Cattani ESAM said:

“Our firm works closely with the Dental Trade across the UK, and we are committed to supporting them however we can. With the Covid 19 lockdown easing off and dental surgeries reopening, it became apparent that the logistics of doing so in a way that is safe for themselves, their staff and patients is extremely difficult.

We came up with a technological solution, in the form of the ImHere app, and realised that it has applications for all sorts of industries, besides dentistry.

The App has been extremely well received during the trial phase, and we hope to rapidly roll it out across the country in the coming weeks.”
