Skyswood Primary School children share Christmas wishes to raise awareness of charity appeal

The spirit of Christmas was all around at Skyswood Primary School as pupils popped on their festive jumpers and reindeer hats for a very special performance to raise awareness for The Sick Children’s Trust’s Christmas appeal.

Pupils shared their heartfelt Christmas Wishes as they took part in the ‘My Christmas Wish’ project, run by The Sick Children’s Trust, while the Year 5 and 6 pupils sang along to well-known Christmas songs in a three minute long charity film.

This project is part of the charity’s wider Christmas appeal to raise £13,230 to support families with seriously ill children in hospital with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, alongside raising vital awareness about the reality many families will face this Christmas. Head of House Operations, Joy Darling, says:

“The children at Skyswood Primary School were an absolute pleasure. It was delightful to see their Christmas wishes which were so thoughtful and kind and the choir was fantastic. We’d like to thank them all for choosing to take part to raise awareness for families with poorly children in hospital.

“The Sick Children’s Trust supports families with seriously ill children in hospital with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, just minutes from their child’s hospital bedside. Every day children are diagnosed with serious and life-threatening illnesses or have terrible accidents that leave them fighting for life. They often have to be transferred to specialist hospitals far from home to receive critical medical treatment. The Sick Children’s Trust is there, supporting these families with free accommodation keeping them just minutes from their loved one’s hospital bedside.

“This Christmas, The Sick Children’s Trust expects that every room across its ten ‘Homes from Home’ will be full with families who are caring for some of the UK’s sickest children. The charity’s Christmas appeal, My Christmas Wish, aims to raise £13,230, enough to run the charity’s ten ‘Homes from Home’ over the Christmas period, providing essential emotional and practical support to families in need.”

Headteacher at Skyswood Primary School, Mr Bob Bridle, adds: “Our children have loved the opportunity to support The Sick Children's Trust, reflecting on the importance of their families at such a special time of year and thinking about how they can make a difference to those in less fortunate situations to themselves.”
