Pop On Your Pyjamas to Help Families with Sick Children

News provided by The Sick Children's Trust on Thursday 15th Sep 2016

National charity The Sick Children’s Trust is calling on the public to don their pyjamas this October, to take part in the Pyjama Party.

The Sick Children’s Trust Pyjama Party will run from Monday 17 October – Friday 21 October and encourages nurseries and playgroups to hold a Pyjama Party where children are sponsored to dress in their favourite pyjamas to raise money for families with sick children. What’s more, adults can take part too!

The Sick Children’s Trust provides families with free ‘Home from Home’ accommodation, as well as emotional and practical support, when their child is undergoing specialist treatment in hospital. The charity and its Celebrity Ambassador, Jen Pringle, Presenter on Channel 5's Milkshake, are calling for the nation to host their own Pyjama Party and help the charity continue to support thousands of families across the UK.

Jen, who will be hosting a Pyjama Party herself, says: “No matter how old or young, we all have our favourite pyjamas that we love to climb into at the end of a long day. The Pyjama Party guarantees a fun-filled day for anybody who gets involved. We’re asking all nurseries and playgroups across the country to choose their favourite pyjamas, invite a teddy friend and join me for The Sick Children’s Trust’s annual Pyjama Party!

"And it’s not only children that can take part! We’ve already had companies request one of our free fundraising packs for the office, so why not get involved and give thousands of families a Sick Children’s Trust ‘Home from Home’ so that they can be close to their seriously ill child.”

The Sick Children’s Trust runs ten ‘Homes from Home’ across the UK, providing families with free accommodation close to their child’s hospital bedside. On average, it costs the charity around £30 to support a family in a ‘Home from Home’ for one night, which includes a private room, access to a kitchen, living room, laundry facilities and a playroom for siblings.

The Sick Children’s Trust Chief Executive Jane Featherstone says: “The Sick Children’s Trust Pyjama Party is something everyone can get involved in and have fun with at the same time. We can’t wait to see you all dressed in your wackiest jim jams, children and adults alike! With the public’s help, we can be there for families with seriously ill children when it matters most.”
