News provided by Soldiering On on Wednesday 10th Aug 2016

LONDON 9 August 2016 – Nominations are now open for the 2017 Soldiering On Awards to be held on Friday, 24 March 2017 in London. Members of the public, organisations, companies and charities are welcome to submit a nomination in a variety of categories which honour individuals or organisations for inspirational and outstanding achievements in support of the Armed Forces Community. The deadline to submit nominations is 30 September 2016.

Winners are selected by a distinguished independent panel of judges. The exceptions are the Animal Partnership and People’s Choice awards for which finalists are selected by the judges from among all nominations and the winners are selected by the public via the charity’s media partner, the Sunday Express. Recipients may be recognized in one of nine categories which can be found at www.soldieringon.org/nominations. They are:

Family Values

Healthcare & Rehabilitation Award

Sporting Excellence

Business Enterprise

Forces in Mind Trust Working Together

Inspiration

Animal Partnership

Lifetime Achievement

Patron of the seventh annual awards, Lord Astor of Hever DL, said:

“The Soldiering On Awards is a strong reminder of the covenant we hold dear with the men and women of our Armed Forces. Whether continuing on in their military career or transitioning back to civilian life, the awards is one way we may publicly repay our debt of gratitude to them, their families and those who support them. We honour those who pay dearly to keep our way of life.”

Sponsors who have committed to the 2017 Soldiering On Awards include:

  • Airbus Defence & Space
  • Breitling
  • CSARN Salute
  • Forces in Mind Trust
  • Pets at Home
  • Skanska
  • Spectra Group
  • Taittinger
  • telent Technologies

Once again, the prestigious judging panel for the awards, led by General the Lord Dannatt GCB, CBE, MC, DL, and Debra Alcock-Tyler, CEO of the Directory of Social Change, will take on the difficult task of down selecting award finalists and winners.

“It is through your nominations that we may know of the amazing achievements our nominees, finalists and ultimately winners,” said Dannatt. “This is a unique opportunity to celebrate both individuals and organisations in our communities who deserve our recognition and thanks.”

Soldiering On Through Life Trust was established as a not-for-profit organisation to support Service personnel and their families throughout their lives by giving recognition of the inspirational and outstanding achievements of teams or individuals through an annual awards ceremony: The Soldiering On Awards: National Recognition for the Armed Forces Community.
