NHS Resolution re-appoints Costs Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) to deliver costs mediation services
We are proud to be the chosen partner of NHS Resolution. ... Our mandate is simple: to convert complex costs litigation into resolved settlements.
As court backlogs grow, NHS Resolution confirms mediation as an effective method for resolving disputes efficiently.
Costs ADR (CADR) is delighted to announce that following a rigorous procurement process, it has been re-appointed by NHS Resolution (NHSR) to provide specialist mediation services for legal costs disputes.
This renewal reinforces CADR’s role in resolving high-value costs claims. With the Senior Courts Costs Office facing delays over 15 months, the traditional route of Detailed Assessment is no longer efficient.
NHS Resolution’s commitment to mediation prioritises clarity, speed, and lower administrative costs, thereby safeguarding public funds amid litigation uncertainty.
Michael Kain, CEO of CADR, commented:
“We are proud to be the chosen partner of NHS Resolution. Their commitment to mediation is not just a procedural preference; it is a commercial necessity in the current climate.
“The legal industry has historically viewed costs assessments by the court as the 'default' and mediation as the 'alternative'. This contract renewal flips that logic. When such a large payer of legal costs in the UK chooses mediation as its primary tool for resolving disputes, it redefines the market standard.
“Our mandate is simple: to convert complex costs litigation into resolved settlements. We look forward to continuing our work with NHSR in delivering rapid, predictable and significant savings to the public purse.”
