Muslim group launches Peace Institute in Manchester

Minhaj College Manchester (MCM) is a modern community-led college providing educational services to the local community including free English language courses and A-Level programmes in a variety of subjects.

MCM launched the British Institute of Peace in April 2018 with a mission to bridge the gaps between the communities that make Manchester the great city that it is.

The British Institute of Peace (BIP) provides accredited and informal training programmes to teachers, schools, community groups and the public at large. Our courses are all developed with the single objective of bringing together the communities on things that unite us and collectively train individuals on dealing with the differences in an appropriate, legal and peaceful manner.

A year on from the tragic MEN arena bombing, MCM and BIP hope that through our work we can ensure that we do not see another atrocity like this again. We hope and are confident that our work will bridge divides, reduce isolationist ideologies and in turn reduce extremism in all its forms.

Our thoughts are with those who suffered and continue suffer from the consequences of the horrendous attack last year.

MCM is also the first Muslim faith leader training institute that has incorporated peace studies, interfaith studies and modern science subjects into its core programmes.
