Metamorphosis: the SBID Student Awards Competition

News provided by Positive PR on Thursday 20th Aug 2015

The deadline for student submissions into Metamorphosis has been extended until 31st August 2015. The Student Awards competition is a national annual contest for third year students run by SBID to find innovative, talented students and develop nurturing relationships between them and potential employers; bridging their gap between learning and earning. Working closely with industry partners, the mentorship scheme will allow students to develop key relationships, giving them the tools and advice they need to kick-start their careers.

The competition is separated into the following four categories;Retail, Hotel & Restaurant, Workspace and Public space and encourages students to submit their final projects to be judged by key industry figures such as Johnny Grey, world renowned Kitchen Designer & Hon Professor of New Bucks University and Renee Mascari, Kitchen Designer & CEO KBB National Training Group.

The 4 winning entries of each category will be given a personal introduction to a leading design agency, architectural firm or manufacturer for a yearlong virtual mentorship. This year, mentoring companies include international interior design studio, Katherine Pooley Interior Design; work and retail space enthusiasts, Trifle Creative; award-winning interior design studio Roselind Wilson Design and one of London's top residential refurbishment firms, Grangewood.

Submission Process
All projects should be submitted in PDF format (no larger than 10MB) incorporating text and images; the text should be no more than 1000 words which clearly states the student's name, course title, university, course leader, chosen category and a rationale (description) of the project. A Maximum number of 10 images should be included per submission.

Original Work
By submitting an entry, the entrant confirms that it is his/her original work and that they and SBID have permission to publish the material.

Each referent course leader will be asked to select the top 10% of their course to receive an honorary SBID student membership, valid for one year. Participating universities include Southampton Solent, London Metropolitan, Arts University Bournemouth and Cambridge School of Art.
