Tuesday, 7th October 2014: Mel Greig, the Australian radio DJ, will be a guest speaker at Radio Festival 2014. Mel will deliver a cautionary note to the radio industry about prank calls and what can be done to try and protect all involved, as well as prepare radio DJs to face adversity. Mel Greig will be interviewed by broadcaster and journalist Daisy McAndrew at the Radio Festival on Tuesday 14th October and will discuss the tragic events and the impact it has had on her life.

Mel Greig was involved in an ill-fated prank call made to the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was staying. It was intended as a harmless prank, but ended in tragedy.

Chris Burns, Chair of Radio Festival 2014, said: The circumstances surrounding this tragedy are terribly sad but they hold important lessons for all of us working in the media. As an industry we need to act responsibly and learn from each other, so I am pleased that Mel has chosen to speak at the Radio Festival, so we can learn from her experience."

Radio Festival 2014 takes place at The Lowry, MediaCityUK in Salford on 13th-15th October 2014. For further information please visit www.radioacademy.org.
