London Builder Celebrates 500 Happy Customers in Under 3 Years

News provided by Pressat Wire on Thursday 19th Mar 2015

A homeowner survey conducted by YouGov in 2014 found that "58% of UK homeowners say they find it difficult to find a tradesman they trust to help with either home repairs or improvements, with one in five (21%) saying that it is 'very difficult' "

A lot of homeowners dread the day when something in their home breaks. Hiring a trustworthy tradesman can often feel as hard as winning the lottery.

The media regularly report home improvement horror stories, giving the impression that there are no great tradesmen left in the UK. Good work seems to be scarce, however online marketplace MyBuilder.com aims to dispell the myth of 'cowboy builders'.

Vin Patel of OHM Electrical has used the site for just three years.Vin, an electrician from Wembley, recently hit 500 positive feedback meaning hundreds of happy Londoners. The jobs were completed to such high standards that it's gained him 500+ glowing reviews.

Coming from a poor family with almost nothing, Vin was taught that hard work pays off by his late father. Fixing his own toys from age 5, he went on to study engineering before emigrating to the UK and pursuing his dream of becoming an electrician.

Since qualifying as an electrician and gas safe engineer, Vin is obsessed with making his customers happy to the point where he almost never sleeps. "All that matters to me is my customers are satisfied with the quality and price of my work. My feedback proves that hard work pays off!"

Vin rarely takes time off and works long hours so he can make sure customers are not going without safe electrical work. He makes sure he replies to emails, answers calls and texts customers back speedily. Quite a contrast from the stereotype of the 'unreliable tradesman'.

MyBuilder founder Ryan Notz, a former stonemason said,"We know feedback is important for homeowners when they decide who to hire. We're proud that MyBuilder has so many great tradesmen with reviews just like Vin."

We asked Vin what he planned now he has hit this fantastic landmark, he replied "I won't stop until I've hit 2000 positive feedback!".After all, the work is out there, almost 400,000 jobs were posted on MyBuilder during the past year.

A homeowner survey from ComRes suggests that over 10 million homeowners will be looking to find a tradesperson this year. It's great to see that professionals like Vin are out there to take away the worry of finding a tradesman.

Notes to editor

MyBuilder is an online marketplace that brings tradesmen and homeowners together. It works on a principle of accountability through feedback. Our tradesmen are rated on their workmanship by those who hire them through the website, making it easier to find high quality builders and for builders to find good quality jobs.

MyBuilder was founded in October 2004 by former stonemason Ryan Notz, in his garage in Bristol and is now run from an office in East London.

To celebrate Vin hitting 500 positive feedback, MyBuilder are running #FeedbackWeek on Facebook from the 23rd-27th March.
