Lincoln’s White Collar Boxing – Hitting Homelessness Hard
100% of the profits will be donated to the Nomad Trust
Lincoln’s premier martial arts club, Lincoln Fight Factory, has announced details of its upcoming White Collar Boxing charity event, in support of The Nomad Trust.
White Collar Boxing is a casual boxing tournament, throwing first timers, amateurs and competitors in to the ring for a fun, friendly fight, all in the name of charity.
This time, Lincoln Fight Factory have chosen to support The Nomad Trust – a local charity offering emergency accommodation and support services to the homeless, rough sleepers and the most vulnerable members of our community.
‘Over the last few years the Lincoln Fight Factory has raised over £100,000 for some great charities including Adi’s Mission, Lincs to Nepal, Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Foundation, Ethan Maull’s ‘Up Yours to Cancer’ Foundation, The Fire Fighters Charity, the Lincoln City FC Youth Academy and the Injured Jockie’s Fund,’ explains Event Organiser, Shaun Burton.
‘…but this time 100% of the profits will be donated to the Nomad Trust.’
The Nomad Trust operates the county’s only Direct Access Emergency Night Shelter, based on Monks Road, a furniture warehouse on Monks Way, and two charity shops which support the shelter and welfare services, based on Sincil Street and Moorland Avenue.
The Trust merged with YMCA Lincolnshire in 2013 to protect and secure the provision of homeless support services, and has recently received approval to build a new £3m facility opposite YMCA headquarters on St Rumbold Street.
Emma Hume, Fundraising Officer for YMCA Lincolnshire and The Nomad Trust is ‘…delighted to have support from the community! We have a busy time ahead, securing the £3m needed to ensure the provision of these much needed facilities and services.’
She continued; ‘Events such as these not only raise funds for a valuable cause, but show those in need that there are people in our community who care.’
The new facility will offer Direct Access Emergency Accommodation, supported housing, triage, training and social spaces, more than tripling the capacity of the current 21-bed shelter.
The White Collar Boxing Event will be held at Lincolnshire Showground on Saturday 9th July 2016.
