Hundreds take on Race the Light to support the Chilterns Neuro Centre

Hundreds of runners, walkers and families came together for a memorable evening at Race the Light, a spectacular trail running event organised by Runaway Racing in partnership with the Chilterns Neuro Centre, raising well over £3,000 to support local people affected by MS, Parkinson’s and strokes.

Held in the beautiful surroundings of Wendover Woods, the event offered something for everyone, with participants choosing from a challenging 10k trail run, a no less forgiving 5k trail run or a 1.5k accessible route designed to enable people with mobility challenges, wheelchair users and young families to experience the atmosphere and enjoy the woodland setting.

As the sun began to set, participants of all ages and abilities made their way through the forest, cheered on by enthusiastic volunteers and supporters, creating a vibrant community celebration while raising money for an important local cause.

This year’s winners were:

• Men’s 10k winner: James Davis - 36m 18s
• Women’s 10k winner: Jessica Carini - 51m 34s
• Women’s 5k winner: Lauren Mayot - 26m 26s
• Men’s 5k winner: Vincent Mayot - 27m 55s

Prizes were presented following the races, recognising the outstanding performances while celebrating the achievements of everyone who crossed the finish line.

“Race the Light is about so much more than finishing times. It’s about bringing people together, encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors and supporting an incredible local charity,” said Chris Bradley, Director of Runaway Racing. “It was fantastic to see such a diverse range of participants taking part, from experienced trail runners to families and those completing the accessible route. We’d like to thank everyone who entered, volunteered and helped make the event such a success.”

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in Race the Light,” said Kirsty Robson, Community Fundraiser at the Chilterns Neuro Centre. “The atmosphere throughout the evening was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying Wendover Woods while supporting our work.”

The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of its sponsors, AngloDutch Accountants, whose backing helped deliver an unforgettable experience for participants.
