How Palestinians who fled Syria war to Egypt are forced into illiteracy
The New Arab has published an investigative report highlighting the educational difficulties experienced by Palestinian refugees who fled the war in Syria and are now residing in Egypt. This report, conducted by Egyptian journalist Ehab Zidan and co-published with the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) network, provides unprecedented data on around one hundred Palestinian families from Syria living in Egypt.
On the background of political discussions about the resettlement of Gazans in the Sinai Desert, the very basic rights of Palestinians continue to be violated in Egypt. Palestinian families, who left Syria more than a decade ago due to the war, are almost systematically denied residency permits, resulting in no access to recognised education.
To learn more about this politically engineered crisis, read the full investigative report on our website.
