Hold My ****? Posh Rapper Ridiculed Again After Latest 'Cock-Up'
After the international outrage that followed his last single, it appears the rap misfit still cannot get it right
With views on Dave In Charge's recent viral YouTube hit Habitat still increasing, he is set to release his next music video, Hold My Hand. The new video goes live on YouTube on Friday 7 November 2014, alongside the single becoming available to pre-order from iTunes. The official release of the single will be on Friday 21 November 2014.
After the international outrage that followed his last single, it appears the rap misfit still cannot get it right. Once again things seem not to be going to plan.
The joke appears to be on the so-called "eloquent" 25 year-old, who was derided by supposed fans on Facebook and Twitter after they were asked to guess the last word to his new song title: Hold My ____. Inevitably, Dave In Charge was met with improper suggestions, the most polite of them including "willy" and "massive nose".
To the delight of his playful followers, Dave's cheeky sense of humour prevailed and he created spoof artwork based on some of the suggestions.
The unlikely rap star's real name is David Palmer. He is upsetting the apple cart with his controversial and innovative take on rap music, which is not everybody's cup of tea. His grandparents are The Lord and Lady Palmer of Childs Hill, who were awarded their titles in 2011; titles gained through merit and not inheritance.
It is clear that not all reception to Habitat was positive. Some national newspapers focused on the opinions of a negative loud minority who created and speculated with elaborate and fictitious back-stories. The international media was equally divided: CNN ran an interview with the alleged "world's worst rapper" which sought to challenge that claim, while the New York Daily News fixated on the fiction created by the UK press, poking fun at their false claim that he is a "British aristocrat".
Will the vilification of Dave In Charge draw an ironic parallel to Eminem's rise to fame? Whether you love or hate his music, Dave in Charge is destined to remain in the news. His love/hate appeal has the world's media on the edge of their seats.
A whole host of commentaries surround this emerging star, including praise from both Pixie Lott and BBC Radio 1 presenter Chris Stark. Media coverage also includes: The Telegraph, Evening Standard, Daily Mail, Metro, Mirror, Huffington Post, International Business Times, Ham&High, The Jewish Chronicle, 3 News, ITV2, Vice, stuff.co.nz, 9News, E4, Comedy Central US, Capital FM, Nova 100 FM, Newstalk Ireland and more.
