More than 1,000 team coaches become the first graduates of the world’s first EMCC Global Team Coaching Quality Award Accredited Education and Training Programme

Congratulations to the graduates of the EMCC Global accredited Gateway to Team Coaching education and training programme of GTCI. They have become the first in the world to undertake their learning and development under the rigour of EMCC Global Accreditation Standards for Team Coaching.

Launched in May 2020, the EMCC Global Team Coaching Quality Award (TCQA) for education and training providers, and the associated Individual Team Coaching Accreditation (ITCA) and professional designation for team coaches were the first globally recognised standards for team coaching accreditation.

The EMCC Global Accreditation Standards for Team Coaching were embraced by the Global Team Coaching Institute (GTCI) in the five-month GTCI Gateway to Team Coaching programme. Now, the first cohort of more than 1,000 students have taken part in the virtual programme.

The EMCC Global Team Coaching Quality Award is an accreditation for training programmes which have met a set of core standards, themselves resulting from extensive research and survey among EMCC Global practitioners working in the field of team coaching.

Now, the GTCI founders Professor David Clutterbuck, Professor Peter Hawkins, and third partner World Business and Executive Coaching Summit (WBECS) are proud to have helped the world’s first graduates meet these rigorous standards, preparing them for Practitioner Level TCQA and ITCA, which starts in November 2020. Research by GTCI shows some 80% of businesses operate primarily in teams and it is estimated over the next five years, the world will need 150,000 more team coaches.

EMCC Global Team Coaching WorkGroup leader Dr Mary Hartog said: ‘The field of team coaching is growing, yet until the EMCC Global Team Coaching Quality Award there was no accreditation for the work of team coaching providers and practitioners. Working together with our valued partners across the world, we have changed that and are proud to see the first programme using these standards. Both we and GTCI have learned, adapted, and will continue to do so to meet changing expectations and requirements that teams have of their coaches’.

Dimi Kassari, GTCI Programme Manager said: ‘We are delighted to have collaborated closely with EMCC Global, not just for this programme but also in furthering the approach for team coaching worldwide. The guidance we received was invaluable in shaping what has become a highly effective programme that offers a professional designation for team coaches to show they are operating at the highest levels. We have worked together for many months to shape this programme so that it upholds and develops the international standards of EMCC Global’.

Simon Clutterbuck, Commercial Director for Professor David Clutterbuck, said: ‘EMCC Global and GTCI have worked together to create a market of global evidence-based practice in team coaching. Now more than ever, the world needs team coaches as we move into our next phases of society – this accreditation is relevant now and for the future challenges’.
