Fancy yourself as the next Spielberg? Exciting startup offers you the chance to invest and produce independent films 'as part of a film experience website'

The film industry is booming with video on demand traffic predicted to be the equivalent of watching 6 billion DVD’s per month by the year 2017. This amounts to nearly 70% of all internet traffic across the world.

As well as this the British Film Institute’s 2013 statistical yearbook shows enormous growth resulting in the UK holding a 15% share of the Global Box Office, totalling more than £3.3bn in revenue and employing over 43,000 Brits.

This has in part been due to the rapid growth of independent films such as The Kings Speech, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and the rib-tickling Inbetweeners movie. So much so that in 2013 the independent film industry performed better than it had done any time in the past decade.

With homegrown movies on a explosive high and subscription services like Netflix streaming to over 40 million homes this has created the perfect opportunity for the average Brit to not only watch but to invest in and experience the process of filmmaking whilst also benefiting from generous tax breaks.

The ViralFilmNetwork, a crowd funded seed enterprise investment scheme, that facilitates the creation and distribution of UK films is providing contributors with just that.

ViralFilmNetwork is helping investors discover new film-makers, vote on scripts, sit in on script meetings, audition cast, catch up on a days shooting, take a seat in the edit suite, and even watch the final pre-release cut.

Simon Vause, CEO ViralFilmNetwork said: "People want to be entertained. The rapid adoption of tablet computers and smartphones has created a content hungry market that is looking for fun and exciting ways to enjoy their spare time. Now what could be more exciting than checking out the latest development on the hot new film you're involved in, unearthing fresh new talent and enjoying 'first see' feature films?"

This immersive and exclusive experience will not only help investors appreciate and be apart of an exciting movie project but will also provide them with an ultimate hands on approach with an unprecedented level of behind the scenes access and involvement.

Investing in film has been a great success for many people across the globe. Kickstarter witnessed a massive 800,000 people fund £61 million into film related projects, many of which have been nominated in sought after awards including the Oscars.

UK Cinema admissions have also increased with 172.5 million admissions in 2012, the third highest figure in the past 40 years.

If that wasn’t enough, an impressive 647 films were released theatrically in the UK in 2012 alone with the total box office earnings hitting a record £1.1 billion, up 6% from 2011. A big jump from the £645m in 2001.
