Double demolition for One Vision Housing
We have now received planning permission to demolish the two vacant blocks of high-rise flats in Seaforth, Merseyside.
One Vision Housing (OVH) in Merseyside has received planning permission for two of its vacant blocks of flats to be demolished.
Two 14-storey blocks, Churchill House and Montgomery House in Seaforth, will be demolished simultaneously as a controlled demolition; expertly designed to bring the blocks down within the site boundary fencing, not affecting any of the surrounding buildings.
Arturo Gulla, One Vision Housing's Operations Director for Asset Management, said: “The decision to demolish the buildings has been welcomed by local residents and councillors. It will have positive implications for the regeneration of the area and surrounding neighbourhoods.”
Last year (2015/16) One Vision Housing spent £24 million on repairs, voids and investment work in order to maintain the standard of its properties. OVH has also embarked on an extensive development programme, to create over 500 quality homes for individuals and families in Merseyside.
Just five minutes away from Kings Park, OVH is currently building 14 new homes for affordable rent in Seaforth; the development of two bedroom houses and one bedroom apartments on Lime Grove will cater for the local housing demand, with high demand for one bedroom properties and small family homes.
Local councillor for the Church ward, Cllr Paul Cummins, said: “Local people have been waiting a long time for this. The demolition will lead the way for further regeneration of the area, which is greatly welcomed.”
Those living within close proximity to the tower blocks (the exclusion zone) have now been informed about the demolition, and have been asked to leave their properties for a short period of time on the day, during which respite facilities will be available.
Local residents have been invited to attend a consultation event this week (Thursday 10th March) to raise any questions they may have with staff from One Vision Housing and the demolition company J.Bryan Demoliton.
