The Benjamin Gautrey Foundation are thrilled to announce that Doug Perkins and The Spectaculars are supporting their charity by releasing a new song titled #25.

The track was performed live by the band for the first time at the Foundation’s 3rd Annual Dinner held at the Floral Hall in Southport on Saturday 15th February 2014 and was accompanied by a specially created video of Ben doing what he loved best. The song which sees it official release on Tuesday 25th February is titled #25 as that was Ben’s racing number and a number that is used by the Foundation. The lyrics of the song capture Ben’s passion for speed, motorbikes and music and Doug Perkins and The Spectaculars bring their own unique rockabilly twist to the sound. Recorded and mixed using old fashioned techniques, the single sounds just like it was recorded and pressed in the 50s!

The Benjamin Gautrey Foundation was set up in 2011 following the tragic and untimely death of Ben who was racing his Metzeler Superstock 600 Class with MWR Kawasaki at Cadwell Park Race Circuit on 29th August 2011. The foundation is dedicated to supporting Young Riders’ who take the same route into racing that Ben did and also young people with a passion and gift for sport. ‘The Foundation’ supports sport from a grass root level and promotes the sports in which Ben was so passionate about .

A spokesperson for the Foundation said “Ben was such an amazing character and a huge part of our lives, he entertained us every day and had a real passion for life. For us the foundation is such a fitting tribute to Ben and to other youngsters who also have a love of sport. We would like to thank Doug Perkins and The Spectaculars for their continued support with the Foundation. We really love the song and the video and we hope that it will help us raise more funds which will be used in so many ways.”

Doug Perkins and The Spectaculars first got involved with the Foundation in September 2013 when they played at the Foundation’s Dress Down Friday event which was held to celebrate what would have been Ben’s 21st birthday. A spokesperson for the band said “We are thrilled to be releasing this song in honour of Ben’s memory. It has been a pleasure to work with Ben’s mum Lorraine, family and friends over the past couple of months and it is a real testimony to Ben’s legacy the amount of hard work, passion, enthusiasm and dedication they all give to the Foundation. We hope that the single will be very successful and that it will bring to the Foundation extra funds to help other young people fulfil their sporting goals and dreams
