Award-winning rewilding film Heal the Land to have special London screening

News provided by Heal Rewilding on Friday 26th Jun 2026

An award-winning documentary charting the remarkable transformation of a former intensive dairy farm into a thriving haven for wildlife will be screened at a special event in London next month.

National charity Heal Rewilding is inviting supporters, nature enthusiasts and those passionate about environmental change to join them on Wednesday 1 July 2026 for a screening of Heal the Land, a compelling and hopeful film that showcases the extraordinary resilience of nature and the urgent need to restore biodiversity in one of the world's most nature-depleted countries.

The event will take place at the London offices of Slaughter and May in the City and will begin with complimentary drinks and canapés, followed by a screening of the 25-minute documentary and a live Q&A with members of the Heal team and the film's director.

Filmed entirely at Heal Somerset during 2024, Heal the Land tells the story of the early stages of Heal Rewilding's ambitious project to transform the ecologically depleted farm into a flourishing landscape for nature and people. Through stunning cinematography, expert insight and intimate access to the site, the film captures a journey of discovery, challenge and hope.

Audiences will witness astonishing new wildlife arrivals, an increasingly diverse range of species and habitats, and compelling evidence of how quickly nature can recover when given the space and opportunity to thrive. At a time when England is recognised as one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth, the film offers a powerful reminder that nature recovery is both possible and urgently needed.

The documentary was created by wildlife filmmakers Tom Francome of Planet House Productions and Hayley Smith of Pictus Productions, who generously volunteered more than 100 days of their time to produce the film. Post-production was undertaken pro bono by the Bristol-based company Films@59, the award-winning team whose credits include some of David Attenborough's most celebrated wildlife films, including Planet Earth II and Blue Planet II. Together, this expertise and dedication have helped create a cinematic-quality record of a rewilding project in its infancy, capturing moments of beauty, resilience and ecological renewal.

Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Heal Rewilding CEO Jan Stannard, Rewilding Ranger Daniel Hill and the film's director, Tom Francome. The discussion will be hosted by Sarah Winchester, Director of Heal Rewilding, and will explore the challenges and opportunities facing nature recovery in the UK, as well as the lessons emerging from Heal Somerset.

The evening will also provide opportunities for networking and discussion with individuals and organisations seeking to drive positive change for nature in the face of ongoing biodiversity decline.

Sarah Winchester, Director of Heal Rewilding, said:

"Heal the Land is ultimately a story about hope. It shows what can happen when we give nature the chance to recover and demonstrates that meaningful change is possible, even in landscapes that have been intensively managed for decades. We are delighted to bring the film to London and look forward to sharing this inspiring story with new audiences."

Tickets for the event cost £18 per person.
