A Peace Demonstration Questions the West

World Ameer of this organisation has recently toured seven countries in Europe, the West Indies and South America preaching peace and harmony.

The climax of the tour was a peace demonstration in Berlin where Muslims from many countries gathered at the church where a criminal killed twelve innocent members of the public by running them over. Just recently, on 1^st October, after the conclusion of the tour, another criminal has carried out a mass shooting in Las Vegas. In Myanmar, Rohingya Muslims have been facing persecution, murder and expulsion. The speakers at the Berlin demonstration were calling for an end to terrorism, both state and non-state. They pointed out that the attempt by the US and UK governments to murder Col. Gaddafi, or the bombing of Iraq on the pretext that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction was also terrorism. Yet, no action has been taken by the international community to bring to account those responsible for these heinous crimes.

Unless the international community learns to be just and fair to all victims of terrorism, the state of the world will not get better but worsen. Muslims rightly question the motives of those who, while preaching peace, terrorise others.

We urge people of every country to make sure that their leaders are held accountable for the killing of the innocent, regardless of the victims’ and the perpetrators’ colour, creed or religion.

The Ahmadiyya Association for the Propagation of Islam (Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat Islam) was established in Lahore in 1914 to promote the informed understanding of Islam in the West. In 1924, in Berlin, it built the first mosque in Continental Europe of the modern era. The Berlin Mosque is now recognised by the German government as part of the German national heritage. From its European and other centres around the world this organisation has taught that Islam promotes peace, harmony and mutual respect between all communities and nationalities.
