"Leave a cuppa behind for someone who can't afford it" - Suspended Coffees Movement

$10,000 of a targeted $50,000 fund has already been raised via a crowdfunding campaign to help buy cups of coffee for the less fortunate around the world – a 'suspended coffee' waiting until it's asked for. Based on a tradition from Naples, Italy, a suspended coffee is the advance purchase of a cup of coffee for someone who needs it, regardless of the reasons why.

The Suspended Coffees movement asks the world's coffee lovers to live in a world without judgement. If someone asks for a suspended coffee, they are in need; the circumstances vary from someone who has lost their wallet, to a homeless person in need of a warm drink. The movement is based on performing a random act of kindness, by buying others a cup of virtual coffee.

This worldwide movement is the brainchild of John Sweeney, a construction worker from Ireland, who now works full-time running the Suspended Coffees website (http://www.suspendedcoffees.com ). But he urgently needs funds to continue. That's why he has set up his crowd funding page http://tinyurl.com/SCcrowdfunder and he's asking people everywhere to buy him a cup of coffee!

John and his team believe that people are inspired by simple acts of kindness. When someone shares a story of a kind gesture, people feel uplifted by it. Then they are more likely to perform an act of kindness themselves. Hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops from around the globe are on board with the idea. Financial support and donations will ensure that Suspended Coffees can continue its mission to help people by spreading a message of kindness and inclusion in the community.
