Young Art in the Park – final call for entries for this inspiring creative event for schools and their pupils
Young Art in the Park is a great opportunity for us all to work together to explore nature and celebrate the creativity of the children
After a very successful first event in April 2015, schools from across the region are invited to take part in Young Art in the Park 2016, a partnership between world renowned Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Hampshire Collegiate School, other local schools, artists and conservation groups.
Each school will have an 'installation site' in Embley Park, the grounds of Hampshire Collegiate School (HCS), for them to set up a single large artwork or collection of pieces. These pieces will make up an 'art trail' for the public to visit and explore on Sunday 24th April 2016, and an independent panel of judges will award prizes at the end of the afternoon.
11 schools have already registered to exhibit and organisers are hoping more schools will sign up by the closing date at the end of January.
Wolfgang Bopp, Director of Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, said: “Young Art in the Park is a great opportunity for us all to work together to explore nature and celebrate the creativity of the children, letting them inspire us with their ideas and imagination. We hope of course, that it will provide not only a great educational event, but that the launch day will enable the public, as well as parents, carers, grandparents and children to see the artwork as a family.”
The best work from the day at HCS will be exhibited at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in a Youth Art show which will run alongside the Art in the Garden 2016 sculpture exhibition, during the summer.
