Would you spend a night sleeping rough so others don't have to?
YMCA Lincolnshire's world class conference centre, The Showroom, has been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating from an unplanned EHO inspection.
The Showroom Conference Centre provides professional events spaces and facilities for corporate meetings, conferences and seminars.
Utilising its award-winning catering team, the Conference Centre can cater for all types of events, from buffet lunches, meetings, conferences and all types of social functions.
The catering team's Joe Boardman has been nominated for Catering Apprentice of the year twice previously, winning the award once, with staff member and former Apprentice Rebecca May winning the award in 2015.
Having retained our 'very good' food hygiene rating with the highest possible scores for each individual criteria, the team were congratulated on operating a 'well run kitchen' by the assessor.
Conference Hospitality Apprentice, Sophie Gottschall, passed her final apprenticeship exam with a score of 100%.
Sophie has worked for the Conference & Events Team for the past year whilst studying for her BTEC in Hospitality.
She will be continuing her studies in September, undertaking a degree in hospitality management at Nottingham University.
The Showroom Conference and Activity Centre is part of YMCA Lincolnshire, who was awarded with a Silver Investors in People (IIP) Award in 2015.
Following this achievement it was decided the organisation would further invest in its staff by partnering with The University of Lincoln's LLMC (Lincolnshire Leadership & Management Centre), to deliver a CMI Level 5 Training Qualification in Management and Leadership.
Nine members of staff from across the organisation, including YMCA Lincolnshire's Housing, Activity and Conference Departments, began studying for their CMI Level 5 in January 2016.
As well as Conferencing and Events, YMCA Lincolnshire also offers commercial services for Design & Print, Teambuilding, CPD & Workplace Training.
YMCA Lincolnshire, along with The Nomad Trust, run the only Emergency Night Shelter in the county, providing accessible shelter for rough sleepers, as well as over 120 units of supported accommodation throughout the county.
YMCA Lincolnshire is also looking for support in their annual Sleep Easy Event - #SleepEasyLincoln2016.
The event aims to raise awareness and fund in support of the homeless of Lincoln through sponsorship collected by participants.
