WVS and Mission Rabies announce their collaboration to advance animal health and tackle infectious diseases with a human health impact at BSAVA.

WVS and Mission Rabies are delighted to invite you to attend our joint press briefing, which will be held at the BSAVA Congress in Birmingham on Friday 8 April at 9.00am.

The briefing will outline the key principles that this collaborative effort will entail and will provide an update on our on-going combined project work in Blantyre, Malawi.

It will also focus on both charities individual achievements which includes Mission Rabies work in Goa, the work undertaken by WVS in Thailand and India as well as the three pillars that the WVS and Mission Rabies projects are based on: vaccination, sterilisation and education.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation and a press pack will be provided.

Founded by Luke Gamble in 2003, the Worldwide Veterinary Service (WVS) is a UK registered charity that provides a sustainable veterinary resource to assist animal charities throughout the world. From disaster emergency response to training and education, our aim is to provide a fast action veterinary response to charities and animals in need.

Mission Rabies was originally an initiative created by WVS to fulfill the objective of vaccinating 50,000 dogs against rabies in 12 different cities in India. This initiative has grown into a NGO in its own right and now has projects in India, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda. Mission Rabies follows a comprehensive approach by not only tackling rabies through dog mass vaccination but also through educating children and local communities at risk about rabies, dog bite prevention and responsible dog ownership, as well as active rabies surveillance in the project areas.
