UK Company Lens launched by Business Sale Report

Business Sale Report has announced the launch of its new search tool the BSR UK Company Lens. Developed in conjunction with Companies House, the UK Company Lens allows potential acquirers to search the whole UK market for acquisition opportunities.

The Lens has numerous search and sorting features designed to make inquiries as accurate and fruitful as possible. Users can search for specific company names or for businesses with a certain term in their name.

Searches can be refined even further using UK Company Lens’ filters, using up to three SIC codes to specify an industry, choose between active or insolvent/not trading companies and search up to five counties using the location filter.

BSR’s Boris Rykov explains: “Let’s say a user wanted to search for vehicle maintenance businesses in the West Midlands, all they’d need to do is enter the relevant search term, industry and location and the Lens will bring up the relevant results, which can then be sorted according to specific criteria.”

He adds: "As part of our service, we often have to research off-market opportunities for our clients in various different sectors. During this process, we’ve found current solutions for sourcing this data outdated and difficult to use. Companies House, in particular, didn't allow you to view multiple results at once, or sort results according to different criteria.”

“After analysing these issues, we came to the conclusion that we had all the capabilities to develop a solution that would save everyone time and effort when analysing the market, while also making sure that it's affordable to the average user - not just big corporations.”

There were a reported 5.9 million private sector businesses in the UK in 2019 – over 99 per cent of which were Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). With the UK Company Lens, all these businesses can be found in one database.

The UK Company Lens is included with a standard BSR subscription and will be updated on a monthly basis to reflect the most up-to-date results and information. BSR will also be seeking feedback and suggestions from users, in order to further develop and improve the tool.
