The Refugee Journalism helps refugees find work in the UK’s media sector?
Are you a refugee with journalism experience who needs help breaking into the UK’s media sector?
Resonate: The Refugee Journalism Project may be able to help you. We are offering successful applicants:
Work experience with a media organization
Mentoring from a leading journalist
Support in creating journalistic work that is ready for publication
Bespoke work shops in social media, digital journalism, law and ethics
Access to ESOL classes and career’s advice
The project, run by the Migrants Resource Centre and London College of Communication, aims to help address the unbalanced coverage of migration issues in the media by engaging refugee voices in mainstream journalism.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, we would like to hear from refugees who are qualified or have experience in journalism or the media, and have experienced difficulty in finding work within the industry. It is a yearlong project and participants will need to be able to commit to sessions held during business hours. The exact time commitment will be discuss upon application. An intermediate level of English is also required. All sessions will be based in London.
