The Harborne Family Street Carnival returns to celebrate 28 years

News provided by Cuppa Squad on Monday 10th Mar 2025

Often described as the second biggest street carnival in the UK, The Harborne Family Street Carnival is returning on Sunday 22nd June this year to celebrate its 28th anniversary. Second only to London’s Notting Hill Carnival, residents and visitors alike can look forward to enjoying a full day of entertainment, including live music, children’s activities and much more. Sponsored this year by Birmingham’s The Priory Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, The Harborne Carnival hopes to additionally raise funds for local charity Cuppa Squad.

The carnival main stage will host entertainment acts throughout the day, ranging from schools, local groups, arts and crafts and handpicked headline acts.

The carnival will kick off at 10am and run through to 5.30pm with fairground rides, charity stalls and local community groups all represented. Organisers intend to make this year’s carnival the biggest yet, providing the community and city as a whole with the opportunity to gather and celebrate.

Alongside entertainment, the carnival has also nominated local charity Cuppa Squad as their charitable partner for 2025. Cuppa Squad is dedicated to improving health and wellbeing across Birmingham. Cuppa Squad’s involvement in this year’s carnival will mark the start of a three-year partnership.

Silvie Adams, Executive Director of The Priory Hospital, said:

“We are passionate about the community we serve and know how important community events like this are to improving the health and wellbeing of those attending. It’s an honour for us to be the headline sponsor for 2025 and we look forward to joining partners on Sunday 22nd June for what promises to be an incredible event.”

John Lloyd Cuppa Squad said:

“We’re delighted to be in partnership with the Harborne Family Street Carnival. Local community support is incredibly important, especially when considering the many families and loved ones we want to help in the area.

“We’d like to thank The Priory Hospital for their kind sponsorship of the carnival, we are proud to be working with both the hospital and the carnival who have been part of the community for many decades.”

Paul Burgess MBE, Harborne Carnival Chair, said:

“It is always a great pleasure to be able to say the Harborne Carnival is on again. Each year it gets more difficult to organise and the costs go up on everything. However, with the great support of this year’s sponsors, Priory Hospital, we can showcase what is great about living and working in Harborne and the surrounding areas.
