Talk Talk Artwork Under The Hammer
News provided by Omega Auctions on Thursday 28th Feb 2013
More than 30 years after 80s Synth Pop and New Wave band, Talk Talk, came onto the music scene, a collection of their iconic artwork is to go under the hammer. The group had a string of international hit singles including "Today", "Talk Talk", "It's My Life", "Such a Shame", "Dum Dum Girl", "Life's What You Make It" and "Living in Another World". Over time the band’s music was to journey from synth-pop into a more experimental realm and whilst the band's commercial appeal receded, their critical reputation increased with their final two albums, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, being highly acclaimed and remaining influential to experimental alternative rock genres today.
As the music evolved so did their artwork, developing a more psychedelic, botanic and ornothological look. The collection of 12 original paintings by British artist James Marsh, is expected to sell in the region of £50,000 when it comes up for sale in Omega Auctions Rock & Pop auction on 9th March.
Auctioneer Paul Fairweather states "This is a stunning collection and whilst we expect a lot if interest from Talk talk fans, due to the striking nature of the collection, we expect there will be significant interest from art collectors and musicians as well."
