Harlow, UK – 4th October 2019 - John Weiss & Son, the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard ophthalmic micro-surgical instruments and procedures, is proud to be the Authorised UK Distributor for the MedOne range of speciality cannulas.

MedOne Surgical develops, manufactures and distributes high-quality speciality surgical products, World-wide. With a focus on single-use products for vitreoretinal surgery, the comprehensive range includes; general, soft tip, dual bore, silicone oil and subretinal. It also offers a range of backflush instruments, which help Surgeons achieve good surgical outcomes.

MedOne offer soft tip cannulas which have soft, flexible, high-flow silicone tips allowing gentle access to the retina. They are ideal for aspiration of fluid from on or beneath the surface of the retina. Longer silicone tips are ideal for drainage of subretinal fluid from peripheral detachments through an existing tear or break. The range comes in three gauge (g) sizes; 20g, 23g and 25g.

The MedOne range of Dual Bore Cannulas are designed for injection of a liquid such as perfluorocarbon (PFCL) or staining dye, while allowing simultaneous egress of BSS to relieve pressure build up. This increases patient safety, enabling easy use of surgical liquids while controlling intraocular pressure. The range also includes both blunt-tip and infusion cannulas for general injection or aspiration.

Silicone oil cannulas facilitate the process of viscous fluids injection and removal from the eye. The self-retaining feature in the MedOne infusion cannulas allows bimanual surgery during oil fill, in small gauge cases.

Subretinal cannulas allow safe penetration of the retina to either drain subretinal fluid or to inject medication. The PolyTip cannula can be used for penetration through the retina, allowing drainage of subretinal fluid through a minimally traumatic drainage retinotomy.

MedOne backflush instruments are used during vitreoretinal surgery for either the passive or active aspiration of intraocular fluids and debris. Their ergonomic and lightweight design, allows excellent manoeuvrability, featuring a high-volume backflush reservoir for a comfortable grip and better control in micro-vitreoretinal surgery.

Alongside the range of cannulas, the MedOne portfolio also includes a selection of single-use surgical instruments, including; knives, picks and forceps.
