Sims Recycling Solutions Expands Scope of Occupational Health & Safety Management System

Glasgow, United Kingdom (Aug 12th, 2015) – Sims Recycling Solutions' mobility division is delighted to announce their accreditation to the BH OHSAS 18001:2007 standard of occupational health & safety management. The site and services in Glasgow have been accredited under the existing certification which already covers Sims Recycling Solution's on and off-site IT asset disposal, data destruction and mobile shredding services.

BS OHSAS 18001 sets out the minimum requirements for occupational health and safety management best practices. It is a framework for an occupational health and safety management system which ensures companies have the policies, procedures and controls needed to achieve the best possible working conditions, aligned to internationally-recognized best practices.

Visiting auditors were pleased to recommend accreditation to the Glasgow mobile services division. Services offered at this location include repair, refurbishment and resale of mobile phone, tablets and laptops. The recent visit also recertified Sims Recycling Solutions' other ITAD site in Dumfries for an additional three years.

The BS OHSAS 18001 certification helps form Sims Recycling Solutions' plan for rolling out consistent management systems and standards across all sites internationally. The company also operates a global site safety plan which was reviewed during the audit. This plan includes the recent introduction of a "Think Safe, Work Safe, Home Safe" safety campaign as well as regular safety talks, the introduction of SAM (stop a moment) hazard awareness procedures, and appropriate health and safety training for all staff.
