Shalamar 'Moonwalk' Star dances through the pain barrier on UK Tour

Jeffrey Daniel, the man who brought the ‘Moonwalk’ to the UK in 1982 and is credited as teaching the dance move to Michael Jackson has revealed that he is currently ‘ dancing’ through the pain barrier in order not to let UK fans down whilst performing with his band Shalamar on their UK tour.

Daniels revealed to the audience at a sold out London Palladium show last Thursday 2^nd June that he actually needs surgery on his left knee to repair a torn cartilage that he managed to injure whilst practising during the Covid period in his adopted home country of Nigeria.

Telling the audience that his left knee was ‘not good’ and that he’d try & make 200% effort with his right leg to compensate, Jeffrey revealed that he had put off the surgery required to repair the knee in order to ensure that he could complete the UK which was comprised of dates that had been rescheduled several times from 2020 due to Covid.

‘I’m going to dance through the pain on this tour and then have the surgery required to ensure I’m 100% fit for our World Tour next year to celebrate the 40^th Anniversary of the release of the Friends album’ said the singer ‘It will be 40 years since I appeared on the UK institution that is Top of The Pops on a Thursday night and introduced the ‘moonwalk’ to the UK public’.

‘I can promise the fans that by then the ‘moonwalk’ will return in full!’

Thus tour concludes with an appearance at Croydon’s Fairfield Hall on Saturday 18^th June – a venue the band last appeared at on the original Friends Tour in 1982.
