Scientology founder's great-grandson visits UK

Jamie DeWolf is the great-grandson of L Ron Hubbard, the science fiction writer who created Scientology. Scientology is followed by people all over the world, from ordinary members of the public to Hollywood stars.

An award-winning film-maker, poetry slam champion, artist and teacher, Jamie will be visiting the UK to premiere his lecture 'The Author as God' on Thursday 12 March.

The lecture is an explosive and irreverent tour that delves deep through the manifestos of cult leaders, occult writings, confessions and unreleased memoirs to dissect words as a methodology of control. It looks at the fine line between poetry and scripture, the novel and the bible, brainwashing and art – and deconstructs the author as a self-made God and the reader as their unsuspecting victim.

'The Author as God' will be presented as part of the Huddersfield Literature Festival (5-15 March 2015). Jamie will also be teaching a Slam Poetry workshop and presenting a Slam Poetry event at the festival, as well as giving a talk for local young offenders.
