Robert Richardson Named Room to Reward Trustee
Room to Reward are delighted to welcome Robert Richardson FIH MI, CEO of the Institute of Hospitality, as a new Trustee of the unique charity. Room to Reward uses donated unsold hotel rooms to enable charities and communities to give ‘thank you’ breaks to the volunteers who dedicate their time to helping people and places in need.
The Institute of Hospitality has supported the charity for a number of years, encouraging hoteliers to sign up and put their wasted assets to good use. Richardson’s appointment to the Room to Reward board will further increase the charity’s reach and presence in the industry.
“I’m delighted to be joining Room to Reward as a Trustee,” he said. “I’m proud to be part of an industry as generous and giving as ours and this is a fantastic way of using rooms that would otherwise sit empty to recognise people who do so much for others and truly make a difference.
“I first got involved with Room to Reward as a hotel partner in my days as a General Manager. It’s such a simple thing for hoteliers to be part of and has a real, meaningful impact. The Institute is delighted to support and encourage all our members to get involved. I look forward to working with the rest of the board and the Room to Reward team on their journey.”
Since foundation in 2015, approximately 800 hotels across the U.K. have joined Room to Reward, including the likes of Leonardo Hotels, Bespoke Hotels, The Clermont Hotel Group, Firmdale Hotels, The Savoy, The Dorchester, The Torridon and Watergate Bay. Collectively, these hotels have donated breaks to 2500 inspirational volunteers, nominated by over 800 charities.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Robert to our team of Trustees,” said Adam Terpening FIH, Director of Room to Reward. “He’s been a fantastic supporter of ours for many years and will be a wonderful asset to our development and growth. We are hugely grateful to the Institute of Hospitality as well for their continued amazing support.”
Richardson joins Nic Roach (Chair), David Guile, Tim Nealon and Mark Lever on the Room to Reward board.
