Comedian and TV personality Rob Brydon has been confirmed as the celebrity guest speaker for the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ (SMMT) 100th Annual Dinner, to be held on Tuesday 29 November 2016 at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Known for his role as Bryn in well loved television show Gavin and Stacey, as well as his award winning stand-up comedy, Rob began his career as a Radio Wales DJ, before coming to prominence through BBC sitcom Marion and Geoff.

Rob has gone on to receive a host of other acting credits, including I’m Alan Partridge and Black Books, and starred alongside Steve Coogan in BBC2 hit, The Trip. He has amused TV and radio audiences over many years hosting and appearing on numerous panel shows, from Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie To You? and QI, to Just A Minute and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue.

One of the most exclusive events in the automotive calendar, the SMMT Annual Dinner has been running since the early years of the 20th Century, interrupted only by the two World Wars. The event, attended by 1,000 guests from industry, government and the media, and including senior executives from all sections of UK Automotive, is a celebration of the growth and success of the UK automotive industry.

This special 100th Annual Dinner will reflect the past, present and future of the industry, with more details to be revealed nearer the time. In addition to Rob Brydon, guests will also hear from Gareth Jones, SMMT President, who will address UK Automotive’s progress in 2016 and examine the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in the year ahead.

Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive, said, “Over the past century – and longer – the SMMT Annual Dinner has become an automotive institution, and today is one of the most prestigious must-attend events in the industry’s calendar. We are delighted that Rob Brydon will be joining us for what is shaping up to be a very special celebration of the Dinner’s 100th year.”
