Legs4Africa releases short video tracking the progress of the team as they collect legs to be sent out to amputees in Africa
In early April a team from Legs4Africa drove across the country collecting prosthetic legs and associated equipment to be shipped out to Africa. Along the way they collected equipment from Ottobock UK, part of the Ottobock global group of companies and one of the biggest producers of prosthetic limbs in Europe, who have agreed to supply Legs4Africa with specialist parts.
The video tracks the progress of the eight hundred mile trip in a van donated by ServiceMaster Clean and introduces you to just a handful of people who make Legs4Africa work.
Tom Williams, Founder of Legs4Africa said:
"It brings me great pleasure when we arrange these collegtions, the staff at each hospital are always so friendly and pleased to see the legs going where they will make a difference and not headed for the incinerator. It's also a great opportunity to meet some of our individual donors which helps bring home a personal touch, for example hearing some of the stories from Danielle, one of our donors, about her dad and his wishes for his legs to help others in a less privileged country is really heart felt and really brings home the personal aspect to all these prosthetic donations."
Alan Lewin, MD of ServiceMaster Clean added: "We were delighted to support Legs4Africa, a local charity doing excellent work for those in need. It was great to see the donated van being put to use straight away and we hope it serves them well in years to come."
This epic mission will effect hundreds of amputees in West Africa but find out how the van copes in the video here.
