FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 15th 2015
Rural Thai Orphanage threatened with closure, due to government red tape. Possibly leaving 24 impoverished Thai orphans homeless without education, shelter or hope.
Baan Dek Dee Foundation, a small children's orphanage in Rural Thailand. Without funders, major donors or corporate backers, they solely on individual donations. With closure threatened by Thai bureaucracy, their land up for sale, and their foundation status threatened - Baan Dek Dee – lack power and money to move out of their precarious situation.
Baan Dek Dek Foundation is ran by a well to do former orphan, Manop, and his wife Dta – it currently holds 25 children. Most of the Orphans have been born into abject poverty, drug addicted parents and handed off to grandparents who are mostly poor farmers.
Cut knees, teary eyes and odd bruise are the base for any parent, however Manop has experienced this 29 fold and he's looking for more. Sadly he cannot take in anymore, the kids are crammed in 4 to a bed.
"We need to build a larger complex, we had letter from the government – the children are not allowed to play outside as we are restricted. They are stuck on small land. We hope to build a complex that can meet all criteria, to take in more orphans – we get calls almost every day." – Manop (Baan Dek Dee's Funder).
Baan Dek Dee transforms the lives of these children, all of them now receive formal education, adequate shelter and food. These may seem like menial necessities that we take for granted; without Baan Dek Dee these children would go deprived of.
SiamMandalay a company from from the region have pushed to help Baan Dek Dee and are making a pledge to donate to a Thai Orphanage on every puzzle sold online during the Christmas period. They hope to help Baan Dek Dee Foundation raise enough money to buy the land and materials needed to meet the requirements of 6000sqm plot with 4 separate houses.
Only once Baan Dek Dee have met this criteria will they be able to suppress the fear of closure; expand to accept more children, and claim the sort of funding these children deserve.
