Photographic Duets launched in the heart of London

The emergent Russian landscape photographer Sasha Gentsis will present his new project, Photographic Duets, in London in June.

Protobase Laboratories is pleased to sponsor a new exhibition from landscape photographer Sasha Gentsis, Photographic Duets, which will open on the 19th of June.

This is Sasha's first exhibition of personal photography to come to the UK. It will be held at the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) in central London. The exhibition has already had a successful run in Moscow and comes to the UK thanks to the Programme for the Promotion of the Russian Arts and Culture in the United Kingdom.

Visitors will explore 16 photographical compositions of images taken in Russia and other countries. The photographs examine parallel concepts. They explore the similarities that can be found in completely different shapes, colours, materials, textures, places, emotions and concepts. The dual character of the photographs brings to mind the essentially dual nature of life itself. Sasha Gentsis is a Moscow-based photographer who has worked in contemporary landscape photography for more than a decade. His very first personal exhibition took place in Moscow in 2000, where he showcased his large format panoramic photographs.

Sasha's photographs are easily recognised: they either based on precise symmetry or chaotic shapes. In either case, Sasha uses vivid colours to tie the composition together in harmony. He often uses the landscapes of Iceland, Greenland, the USA, Japan, Sweden, Burma and his native Russia in his artworks. Photographic Duets will be open for free from 18 June until 2 July.
