Open Day celebrates Lincoln Daycare Centre’s 10th Anniversary

YMCA Lincolnshire’s Woodlands Daycare Centre, based on Whitethorn Grove in Birchwood, will be holding an open day event this weekend, celebrating its 10 year anniversary.

Woodlands Daycare opened on 3^rd January 2006, and has been delivering top quality, engaging childcare for the past ten years.

This Saturday, from 10am-1pm, Woodlands Daycare Centre will be open to view and explore. The team invites all past and present families it has worked with to attend.

Alongside family fun, activities games and arts and crafts, we will have our Bouncy Castle out for all to enjoy!

Carly Shaw, Senior Childcare Manager, has worked for Woodlands Daycare since its inception, and recalls the first day;

“When we first opened we had two to five families using our services and a team of three – we now have a team of ten staff, and are working with over fifty families from the local community.”

Woodlands Daycare is part of YMCA Lincolnshire, a local charity working to support some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community.

YMCA Lincolnshire is also dedicated to developing its staff, supporting Manager Carly through a BA Hons degree and her deputy in achieving Early Years Professional Status.

Over the years, Carly explains how they have “grown and developed” staff and apprentices, “who have undergone various professional developments such as specific speech and language training.”

“We have built up strong and positive working relationships with the school that we are attached to, Woodlands Infant and Nursery School, as well as local schools and colleges by offering them good quality work experience placements.”

YMCA Lincolnshire supports young people throughout their development in life, offering early years Childcare at Woodlands Daycare Centre in Birchwood and Beginnings Daycare based in Gainsborough.

The Showroom Activity Centre provides world class youth engagement, pioneering alternative education, working closely with schools and authorities.

Youth Nights are ran in the evenings, with extra-curricular activities for young people of all ages. The Showroom also offers diverse Volunteer and work placement opportunities.

YMCA Lincolnshire’s Fitness and Training Centre just in the city centre, located next to YMCA Lincolnshire’s Headquarters on St Rumbold Street, offers a gym, as well as both fitness-specific and workplace CPD qualifications.
