Oman Among Top 10 Safest Countries for Tourists

Oman has maintained its reputation as being one of the safest countries for tourists, according to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report for 2015. The latest statistics from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) report, place the Sultanate at an impressive 9th out of 141 countries worldwide under the security and safety criteria ahead of Spain (placed 31st), the USA (placed 73rd) and the United Kingdom (placed 63rd).

The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2015 ranks 141 countries across 14 separate dimensions through the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI), revealing how well countries could deliver sustainable economic and societal benefits through their travel and tourism sector.

Oman's rank in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is sixth and 65th overall. The report also states that the UAE and Qatar have maintained their positions in providing safe destinations for tourists.

Alison Cryer, Managing Director UK and Ireland Oman Ministry of Tourism MBR Office, says: "Oman is without doubt one of the most beautiful and safest countries in the Gulf Region. The credit for maintaining its reputation as being one of the safest countries in the world for tourists should go to the Omani people".
