NHH Boosts Job Prospects
Social housing has many professional disciplines with transferable skills
North Hertfordshire Homes has done a deal with Jobcentre Plus to create more work experience opportunities for young people looking to improve their chances of getting a job. We have already provided six placements in Letchworth and Hitchin over the last year.
The new agreement means it will be easier for our teams to offer and place job seekers. Nicola Price, who heads up our work on employment said: “Work experience can have a huge impact on a young person's employability. Social housing has many professional disciplines with transferable skills from building trades, IT, marketing, care, finance as well as tenancy management. This formal agreement with Jobcentre Plus means we can help more local people improve their job prospects."
Derek Cockerill, Customer Service Operations Manager for five job centres across Hertfordshire said, “Even though young people may have decent qualifications, employers want to see that they can apply themselves in the work place. Organisations like NHH add a tremendous boost to their employability value and I hope this agreement inspires other local companies to support with helping young people into work."
