NEW ICON TRAINING Level 4 Leisure Management Programme Exclusively Endorsed by CIMSPA

As an official CIMSPA Skills Development Partner with the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), ICON TRAINING are pleased to announce that our new Level 4 Leisure Management qualification will be exclusively endorsed by CIMSPA.

A number of products and services have recently been introduced by CIMSPA, including a professional development framework, endorsement programmes, technical infrastructure, regional continuing professional development (CPD) and events, plus mentoring. CIMSPA's aim is to provide learning opportunities and career pathways for the sport and leisure industry through provision of a number of CPD and training course options. ICON TRAINING will be working closely with CIMSPA to achieve these objectives; after consultation with operators within the sector and identifying a need in their business, together we will be launching the Level 4 Leisure Management qualification in January 2015.

Mac Cleves, Managing Director of ICON TRAINING, said: "Research from CIMSPA had shown that there is a significant shortage of qualified managers in our sector and employers see this as a critical area of investment for their workforce. The new Level 4 Leisure Management programme has been designed with employers to provide middle managers with a flexible set of knowledge and skills to excel in their management role and offer a foundation to move into senior management positions. Working with CIMSPA we will be focused on supporting people in their roles by professionally recognising this programme of learning."

The programme has recently been piloted by Parkwood Leisure and GLL; Lee Clark, centre manager, Sidcup Leisure Centre (Parkwood Leisure), says: "I have been in management for many years and this course has allowed me to self-evaluate my management style and help me reflect on changes that I can undertake in order to make my business operate more efficiently with improved sustainability."
