200 guests from the mobile industry joined forces to raise over £80,000 to support Get Connected and Tablets for Schools, long term charity partners of Dixons Carphone, at a glittering quiz event on Wednesday 24th September. The event was generously sponsored by Northern & Shell and Wipro.

Impressionist Jon Culshaw hosted the event, joined by Masterchef finalists Jack Lucas and Luke Owen, ‘Gastronaut’ Stephan Gates and former England cricketer Phil Tuffnell, who all allowed themselves to be auctioned on the night, helping out with specialist rounds. Violinist Lettice Rowbotham, who wowed on Britain’s Got Talent, provided fantastic live entertainment.

Funds raised through this event will help to support children and young people across the UK to realise their potential, accessing the help they need and making the best of their educational opportunities.

Get Connected is the UK’s only helpline dedicated to helping young people with absolutely anything. They provide a completely free and confidential service across six channels every day of the year, to anyone under 25, whatever the problem. As well as emotional support, Get Connected can provide free connections to 9,000 trusted services across the country.

Tablets for Schools was founded to bring together teachers, industry leaders and academics using robust, independent research on how tablets can impact learning and attainment.

Jessica Taplin, Chief Executive at Get Connected, says:

"’Please help me’ can be pretty scary words to say, even as an adult, so I am incredibly proud to lead an organisation which each and every day makes it easier for children and young people to reach out and find the support they need. Last year more than 150,000 young people contacted us and this year we expect to see that demand rise. Thanks for your generous support."
